Raksha Bandhan, is a famous, traditionally Indian festival , which is central to a festival of the same name, celebrated in India, Nepal and other parts of the Indian subcontinent, and among people around the world influenced by Indian culture. On this day, sisters of all ages tie a thread, or raksha , called the rakhi, around the wrists of their brothers, symbolically protecting them, receiving a gift in return, and traditionally enduing the brothers with a share of the responsibility of their potential care.
Raksha Bandhan is celebrated on the last day of the Hindu lunar calendar month of Shraavan, which typically comes in August. The expression "Raksha Bandhan," In Sanskrit, "the bond of safeguard, responsibility, or care.

The Raksha Bandhan or Rakhi can be tied anytime between 9:28 in the morning to 9:17 at night.
but, the best time to tie the sacred thread would be Aparahna Muhurat which is between 1:48 PM to 4:29 PM
And in case, you miss the Aparahna muhurat, you may go for the Praodsh period which starts at about 7:10 PM and ends at 9:17 PM.
