 World Health Organization permitted Chinese Sinopharma Vaccine for Emergency Use

The World Health Organization granted its authorization for emergency use of a COVID-19 vaccine manufactured by China's Sinopharm, potentially paving millions of doses to reach needy countries through a U.Ns COVAX program.

on this WHO chief Dr Tedros said "It expands the list of COVID19 vaccines that COVAX can purchase, and gives countries the confidence to expedite their own regulatory approvals and to import and administer a vaccine. " 

The addition of this vaccine has the potential to accelerate the use of the COVID-19 vaccine, ”says Dr. Simao of WHO.

Dr tedroz also said  "The Strategic Advisory Group of Experts on Immunization, or SAGE, has also reviewed available data, and recommended the vaccine for adults and 18-year-olds with a two-dose program."

  

controversies related to sinopharm vaccine:

A major dilemma on the Sinopharm vaccine is that when the vaccine is tested in other countries, then this vaccine showed efficacy of 50 percent which is quit low as compared to other vaccines

but it is essential to use this vaccine for global immunization program led by WHO and UN but should insure high efficacy of this vaccine by some Modification .
